D is for ??

Looking through my bookcases, I’ve got a bit of a problem. The only author who’s last name starts with a D is Charles Dickens and I really don’t like his work.

I know, as a writer I’m suppose to adore the classics, swoon with delight over his work and the like but you know what? I just can’t. I find his work to be boring and desperately in need of an editor who would cut out all the long descriptive passages and get to the damned story already.

On the up side, this lack in my bookcases indicated I need to go book shopping. Any suggestions for an author with the surname starting with D?
